New Building PDF Print E-mail

January 2009:
The Orinda Planning Department has received the Church's completed documents for the  Planning Commissions Review. These were filed on December 29, 2008 and consisted of the following, required material:

  • Official Survey of Property
  • Site Plan
  • Grading Plan
  • Parking Study
  • Parking Plan
  • Soils Study
  • Preliminary architectural elevations, floor plans, and roof plan
  • Color and finish board
  • Landscape Plan
  • Arborist's Study Plan
  • Complete documents describing the proposed building use, finishes
  • The "Story Poles" were erected on December 31, 2008
  • Color rendering and site photos

The submission consisted of 17 sheets of drawings and 37 pages of documents.

All plans were prepared by State of California licensed professionals as required by the local ordinance; these included licensed land surveyor, licensed soils engineer, licensed civil engineer, licensed site architect, licensed, building architect, licensed landscape architect, and the licensed arborist.

The Orinda Planning Commission will review the documents and provide their ruling as to whether or not we will be allowed to construct the building on the site. Eventually a public hearing on the project will be held by the Orinda Planning Commission.

If the Orinda Planning Commission were to approve the project, the final design of the building would have to be documented with structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, architectural, and civil design documents that would be submitted for "Plan Check" and "Approval," to the Orinda building Department, before a building permit could be issued.

At this time we await the action of the Orinda Planning commission; if they were to approve the concept of the project we could move ahead with design documents, and use these to receive cost proposals for the project, and a review by the Church Council.

Please contact Tom Gilbertson by leaving a message at the church office (925-254-3422) for any questions that you may have regarding the proposed project.
